Vestige of Credence: Chapter 3
Part 19: A Peaceful Place
The dark color of the rock walls surrounding them made the electric glimmers even more brilliant. Kadden was so fascinated by the glimmers that he neglected to notice their arrival on the bridge until he almost stumbled off of it. Lailie caught his arm, pulling him back, and laughed quietly under her breath. She found his fascination with her underground home entertaining.
“This is so strange to me,” he confessed, as he slowly rotated in a circle observing their surroundings. Having at first been taken slightly off guard, he now observed around him in more detail, realizing that there was water falling out of some sections of the rock wall and lava falling down out of other areas.
Pointing up at a purple substance pouring from another gap in the wall, Kadden began to inquire, “And is that…?”
“…elusa,” Lailie finished his sentence. “Yes, isn’t it amazing?”
The elusa was astounding to look at. Somehow it didn’t move in one constant flow like the lava and water. Instead, it formed almost a weaving pattern crawling down the wall, resembling lace. It was a light purple color with occasional spots of gold, and it sparkled just like the mist around them.
What was most eye-catching was the sight beneath the bridge. Below them the Lizab River featured a stream of lava and a stream of water separated by rocks, and elusa flowing over it all like a translucent web. He had never seen anything like it. There seemed to be no living creatures in the cavern. Lailie told him that, as much as she loved its beauty, her favorite thing about the cavern was the peace and quiet. No creatures naturally inhabited the location, so she could spend all her time on the bridge thinking.
