Vestige of Credence 18 – Electric (Love Fantasy Books Series)
Vestige of Credence: Chapter 3
Part 18: Electric
After providing details about the Dragile, Maximus restated that Lailie and Anvid wished to join Kadden and Ellara on their journey. Anvid had never been a particularly social man. He grew to love his time with the Dragile primarily because they were so different from the Graphine. Being a quiet yet forceful species, he felt a connection with them. He was known among the Graphine as a bit of a temperamental outcast, but still the finest Dragile instructor in the underground. His profile was that of a classic hermit: incredibly talented, yet socially disliked. Being called on to serve with the company gratified his need for aggression.
As they all talked more about the mission, they mentioned needing to find Niomi. “Ah, yes,” Lailie remembered. “There had been reports of surface creatures living east of here in the great trench. It should only be a day’s flight by Dragile, assuming the ground quakes do not interfere.”
They could not be sure it was the Rainda that had been seen, but it was certainly the best lead yet. In the short time before their departure, they decided to explore Olcanic. The beautiful intricacy of the city from afar was lovely enough. But as they walked farther into the city they found remarkably fascinating little creatures. There were small round, almost flat creatures of a purple color that would rest on the rock walls. Sometimes they would jump from the wall and slowly glide down to float on the lava, and they had dark orange and yellow hair sprouts out of their heads.
Lailie showed Kadden the legendary Lizab Bridge. The bridge was suspended over a lava river near town. It hovered about a mile above the Lizab lava river. She told Kadden it was the loveliest place she had seen living underground, but her description before they arrived there did not do it justice. He never could have imagined that something so amazing could be located beneath the sand he walked on his whole life. They walked a few minutes through water tunnels, and came to another air pocket area. They were out of the tunnel and walking only a couple of minutes through a large cavern when he noticed a mist and began to see glimmers around him, like little sparks were dancing in the air.
“What are these sp…” he trailed off, his eyes darting about to catch glimpses of the twinkles.
“Those are tiny electric shocks,” she answered. “From what understanding we have gathered, the atmospheric elements put off by the mixture of lava, water and elusa clash, causing electricity.”
The look on Kadden’s face was one of slight concern. “Electricity? I have only ever heard stories about it, but can’t that be dangerous?”
She laughed at him, “I guess that’s true. But those little sparks aren’t going to hurt you, they’re too small.”
