The Elf Queen of Shannara
So far I’ve written 1,000 words for my fantasy book today. Feeling good about that but hoping to squeeze in some more. While I’m taking a short break, I feel the need to talk about Terry Brooks and the Shannara books. To this day, the Elf Queen of Shannara remains one of my top three favorite books. My husband hasn’t read much from Terry Brooks so he was recently questioning me as to what makes that book so great. Well, can I start with a simple word? Mystery! Who doesn’t love a fabulous mystery such as the disappearance of all the elves? Need I even mention Wren’s fantastic determination and faith in her search for them? Of course another of my favorite signatures in his books are the lovable animal side characters. I know I’m just rambling now, but if you haven’t read it, please do, although maybe start with the first in the series.
