The Haunted Realm (Fantasy Book) Launch Continues
Hi Everyone,
Thank you all so much for making The Haunted Realm book launch first week an amazing success. I’m so thrilled about the positive responses so far to the book. Here are some book reviews that are already up… way cool!
The Haunted Realm Fantasy Book Reviews:
By Patti Shene on November 10, 2015
Format: Kindle Edition
This is the second book in the Obsidian series, written by Emilyann Girdner. Araina, a girl in her late teens who has escaped from Segment One of the labyrinth in which she was created, discovers there is more to life than simply fighting for survival.
I saw a considerable amount of symbolism in this story as Araina develops a deeper awareness of her emotional self. Her sensitivity to the needs of her companions is a key element in the plot. She learns the pleasure in forming relationships while dealing with the pain of losing a cherished friend.
The strongest point of suspense, in my opinion, in this sequel to The Labyrinth Wall, was Araina’s strange illness. What was causing it, how would she survive it, and what would be the effects on her emotional well-being? The answers provided a delightfully interesting plot twist.
I enjoyed the group dynamics that evolved as the characters faced danger from enemy threats, insecurity about who outside of their circle to trust, and uncertainty about each other. The bonds that formed, the friendships that were built, and the reliance on each other’s strengths that developed in this fantasy world paralleled what people experience in the real world.
All of the characters were well crafted and easily visualized by the reader. This dystopian world was presented in a realistic fashion, allowing the reader to enter into its fantasy existence and be carried along through Araina’s journey and that of her companions.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I look forward to further works from this author.

I didn’t think I could like this book more than the first, but I do. I am not a huge YA fan so the book has to be fantastic to catch my attention nevertheless get a 5 star rating from me.
Araina grows leaps in bounds in maturity in this book. Despite all the challenges she faces, as well as her group, she stays strong…feet firmly planted on the ground. She is faced with (possible) deception, danger, and confusion but despite the obvious threats to all of their safety she carries on.
My favorite part of the book is when you think you have it all figured out the plot twists in a very surprising way. I am having a really hard time reviewing this without giving spoilers so basically if you are looking for a fast paced, dystopian story read this series. It is a refreshing change of pace. I can’t wait to read the next one!
I received this book for review purposes only, positive review was not required.
Thank you to everyone the awesome reviewers above for sharing their thoughts and to everyone that takes time to leave book reviews. Every review is extremely helpful and appreciated.
