A Book Signing Discussion
A couple weeks ago, I mentioned I would try to sprinkle in updates on some of what went on the couple of months I wasn’t able to blog over the summer. It got pretty busy, and one very exciting thing, was that I was able to travel to my hometown, Tallahassee, and participate in a local author Barnes & Noble book signing. It was amazing! I want to share what was most fulfilling, what I’m going to try to work on for next time and I’d love to invite feedback and advice on the topic.
What do I love about book signings?
I absolutely love talking to people about what they’re up to, what brought them to the signing and what inspires them about books. How often do you get to be in a room with that much energy and excitement about reading and books? It’s just incredibly motivating and fun. So meeting new people and talking about books (especially with kids, who get so pumped), is probably my favorite part about book signings.
What’s tough about book signings?
A big part of the challenge comes before the signing in the planning and marketing stages. It’s hard to make the best of a promotion budget. Planning the right time can be a tricky aspect too. So, like many things in life, the planning and making it happen bit can be difficult, but the event itself is a lot of fun.
What is a favorite book signing experience you’d like to share as an attendee or an Author?
What do you find rewarding or difficult about a signing?
Do you have tips to share?
If you’d like to contribute tips in the comments below, I’ll plan to incorporate them into an upcoming book signing tips and ideas post I’m planning (and I’ll of course link to you)! This post will be part of the blog series I’m looking to boot up in the next month or two on blogging, marketing, writing and general tips i’m picking up as an Author (as well as my questions seeking advice).
So to wrap up, here are a few photos from the Semi-Annual Big Bend Area Book Signing for Local Authors.
Have a great week everyone.
