Writing Flashback – Fly Poem

laughing like the days before.
It will all be well,
I will cry no more.
So much has changed in my life since I wrote this short poem. It was written when I was sixteen and thought I would never love anyone else after a difficult break up. I’ve been blessed with a wonderful husband now and can’t imagine my life without him, but I’m glad to still have these words to look back on from that time in my life. Mainly, I wonder if sharing them might be therapeutic for others. We can all relate to the pains of broken love. Like Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, this poem doesn’t allow me to forget the turmoil of youth and young love. It also helps me to remember a time that caused great growth in my life and helps me appreciate a million times more what I have now.
