What do Lord of the Rings and The Labyrinth Wall Have in Common?
Hi Everyone,
You may have noticed I had a brief break there in posting, but I promise it was for good reason. I have been crazy busy traveling for work trips (I discovered that Dallas has amazing food), attending super fun comic cons and preparing for The Haunted Realm book launch… which is upon us!!!! So I’ll jump right in to a recap of the last few weeks, details about The Haunted Realm book launch and a quick update about The Realms Faire Joust! And you’ll also find out in this post what Lord of the Rings and The Labyrinth Wall have in common.
Sean Astin, The Labyrinth Wall
and My Adventures at Wizard World Comic Con:
At the beginning of October I traveled to Ft. Lauderdale for Wizard World Comic Con. It was an absolute blast. I was overwhelmed with excitement and gratitude when I was asked to speak on the “Creativity Engine: Where Does the Power Come From?” panel, how exciting is that? I joined
Genese Davis (Holder’s Dominion) and
J.J. Sedelmaier (Beavis and Butt-head, The Colbert Report and more) as we dug into our thoughts on keeping creativity going. From letting go of fears and following dreams to using deadlines to boost creativity, it was a very engaging discussion. What are your thoughts on creativity? Do you have any tips to share for helping the creative juices flow?

In addition, I was thrilled to meet Sean Astin from Lord of the Rings, Rudy, Goonies and more. I never imagined that I’d meet the actor who portrayed one of my favorite literary characters (that would be Samwise Gamgee), and I definitely never imagined he’d tweet about my work (The Labyrinth Wall)
on Twitter! He may never know, but his support for my work is life changing. Any writer can attest to the level of rejection writer’s often face, so to receive such support from Sean was a wonderful blessing and encouragement. So there you have it… Lord of the Rings and The Labyrinth Wall have Sean Astin in
common. =-) Also, I do want to take this opportunity to briefly mention that Sean is quite the advocate for literature. Check out the GoFundMe project he is doing here:

and you can subscribe to hear him read classic tales here:

And as usual, I was extremely impressed with all of the awesome Cosplays at the event! Below are some of my favorites. Beauty and the Beast, a very cool Jedi, completely awesome The Last Unicorn Cosplay (she made their outfits), Rick Grimes, Lara Croft, Little Red Riding Hood, Assassin’s Creed, and Spock! Oh awesome cosplayers, you rock my world! How much fun are these outfits? One day I’ll do an awesome cosplay (say in celebration if I ever land some big movie deal?)… Yes, you guys can hold me to that if it happens, haha. But in all seriousness, I will try to do a fun cosplay to post sometime in the near future.
